Dermaplaning

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a safe, non-invasive manual form of exfoliation to rid of dead skin cells & unwanted “peach fuzz.” Your Aesthetician will use a sterile surgical blade designed for a Dermaplane Facial to exfoliate the buildup of dead skin cells, debris, and oil from the outer layer of the epidermis. As with any type of exfoliation, Dermaplaning will allow your homecare products to be more effective. Your face will feel smooth, fresh, and glowing! You can book a Dermaplane by it’s self or as a Dermaplaning Facial.

Dermaplaning FAQ

Q: Can Dermaplaning cause more hair growth?

A: Nope! Your hair does not grow thicker or darker after a Dermaplaning Facial. This is by far the most common question we get. The peach fuzz on our face is actually called Vellus hair and differs from other hair on our body.

Q: Am I an ideal candidate for Dermaplaning?

A: You may not be able to receive a Dermaplane Facial if you have:

  • active acne, Rosacea flare up, raised or vascular lesions

  • an infection of any type on your face

  • moles (can be worked around)

  • Skin Cancer

  • Eczema or Dermatitis

  • uncontrolled Diabetes

  • been on blood thinner medication

  • a history of keloid scarring

  • Hemophilia

Q: What are the benefits of a Dermaplane Facial:

A: The Dermaplane benefits include:

  • Allow your products to work more efficiently.

  • Remove buildup of dead skin cells, debris, and oil from the outer layer of the epidermis.

  • Leaves your skin feeling smooth, soft, and glowing.

  • Removes vellus hair, also known as “peach fuzz.”

  • Stimulates cellular turnover

Q: What should I expect after receiving a Dermaplane Facial?

A: Your Aesthetician will take every precaution to ensure that your skin is well hydrated and calm following each session. However, you may experience excessive dryness or even some peeling between sessions, which may or may not be normal. Always contact us if you have any concerns. • Always wear your SPF

  • Never use tanning beds

  • Avoid wearing makeup for 24 hours, especially if the makeup clogs pores.

  • Do not use a physical exfoliant for 5-7 days.

Q: Will I see results after one Dermaplane?

A: Yes! After Dermaplaning, your skin will look brighter, smoother, and refreshed. The majority of clients receive noticeable, satisfactory to above average results with a series of treatments and a commitment to a daily skin care regimen. You can notice such a big difference in the Dermaplane before and after photo above!

Q: Dermaplane vs. Microdermabrasion

A: It depends! If one of your goals is to remove peach fuzz, then Dermaplane is the service for you!

Q: Dermaplane vs. shaving

A: Dermaplaning removes much more dead skin cells than shaving does. Removing the vellus hair is just a bonus!

Q: What is Oil-planing?

A: Oil planing is Dermaplaning used with oil for clients with more mature, dehydrated, sensitive, reactive or thin skin. We cleanse the skin as normal, and apply the oil prior to Dermaplaning.

Q: How often should you Dermaplane?

A: We recommend Dermaplaning every 4 weeks.

Q: What is the cost of Dermaplaning?

A: At Cleanse Face & Body Bar, Dermaplaning by itself is $75, and it's +$30 to add it on to any facial.
